The return of the elephants to Bolesławiec has become a fact. The distinctive figures, which for years stirred residents’ fond memories and were one of the recognizable elements of the cityscape, have appeared in the city once again.

This time, however, they were placed on Jeleniogórska Street, rather than on Wróblewskiego Street, where their location was initially being considered. In the past, the elephants stood by the railway embankment, next to the present-day headquarters of the State Fire Service District Headquarters in Bolesławiec.

The elephants are intended to evoke those that for years were one of the distinctive features of the cityscape. Their return has been positively received, and residents are eager to photograph them.

This raises the question: should the elephants have names? Should they have their own names? We decided to present suggestions for names they could bear.

And here is an important note: some suggestions definitely did not make the list by chance. And some of them—as one might guess—could also bring quite a few smiles.

The name suggestions are not random

The survey included four pairs of names:

  • Piotr and Roman,
  • Tomasz and Kamil,
  • Jacek and Placek,
  • Dominik and Benjamin.

Warning! The suggestions may evoke political or fairy-tale associations.

And if someone believes that none of the suggestions is suitable, the most important question remains: should the elephants have names, or should residents come up with completely new ones for them?
