The ibis Styles hotel in Bolesławiec has been expanded with a new section that is more than twice as large as the existing property. Following completion of the investment, the entire complex now has a total of 142 hotel rooms and apartments.
As Radosław Naskręt of ibis Styles Bolesławiec explains, the old and new buildings were connected by passages created on individual floors. This required giving up several of the existing rooms.
– The hotel now has 142 rooms. From 65 rooms in the old section, the property has grown by 79 new ones – says Radosław Naskręt.
The new building was completed in less than a year and a half
The investment was completed quickly partly thanks to the use of prefabricated structural elements. The shell of the building was constructed by Pekabex, a company from Poznań.
The new section of the hotel has more than 7,000 square metres of floor space. The building's structure itself was assembled in less than three months. Prefabrication not only accelerated the work. Some concrete surfaces, including those on staircases and in common areas, were left in a raw, industrial style.
The new section was finished according to the design previously used in the existing hotel. As a result, the two buildings form a coherent whole, and the acceptance procedures carried out with Accor, which owns the ibis brand, could proceed more smoothly.
More than 50 apartments for longer stays
The new building includes both standard hotel rooms and more than 50 two-room apartments. The latter are intended primarily for people planning a longer stay in Bolesławiec.
The apartments have approximately 39 square metres of floor space. Each consists of a living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette. Their equipment includes, among other things, a refrigerator, dishwasher, dishes and pots. The units also have air conditioning and underfloor heating.
Some apartments will be available for short stays, but two floors have been designated for long-term tenants. The minimum rental period is to be one month. The hotel has already signed the first agreements covering two-year stays.
According to the property's representative, demand for such units may result from the proximity of economic zones and the presence of companies employing specialists who come to the region on longer contracts.
Prefabricated bathrooms arrived almost ready
One of the solutions that accelerated construction was the use of ready-made bathroom modules. They arrived from the factory already equipped with, among other things, fixtures, mirrors, lighting and fittings.
Similar solutions were used both in the apartments and in standard hotel rooms. The property also has rooms adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.
Garage for 55 cars and a view of the city
An underground garage with 55 parking spaces is located beneath the new section of the hotel. A freight lift was also installed in the building.
The standard hotel rooms retain the style known from the older section of the property. The décor uses cobalt elements and motifs referring to Bolesławiec pottery, including characteristic images of elephants.
Some rooms offer a view of central Bolesławiec. According to hotel representatives, their floor space is larger than the minimum requirements set for three-star properties.
The first floors of the new section have already been approved for use and have welcomed guests. Final furnishing work and acceptance procedures are under way in the remaining rooms.
