Drivers using the A4 motorway should take the changes to traffic arrangements into account. On Wednesday, 29 July 2026 at 7:00 p.m., the temporary closure of the Königshainer Berge tunnel in the direction of Dresden will begin.

The disruption will last until Thursday, 30 July, at 1:00 a.m.. During this time, it will not be possible to travel through the tunnel. The closure is due to changes to the traffic arrangements related to ongoing construction work.

While the tunnel is closed to traffic, drivers will be directed along a suitably signposted emergency detour. The road operator urges drivers to exercise caution and pay attention to the temporary signs, which will lead them to the designated alternative route.

The Königshainer Berge tunnel is one of the most important engineering structures on the A4 motorway, and thousands of passenger cars and trucks use it every day. Due to the heavy traffic, even a closure lasting several hours may extend travel times, particularly in the evening.

The facility is equipped with modern safety systems, including monitoring, ventilation, lighting and fire-protection equipment. For this reason, all modernisation work and changes to traffic arrangements are carried out in accordance with special procedures to ensure drivers' safety and the tunnel's efficient operation once the work is complete.
