Another driver found out that excessive speed can have serious consequences. Police officers from the Traffic Department of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters stopped a 21-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County who had significantly exceeded the speed limit on a national road outside a built-up area.
During the check, the officers measured the vehicle’s speed. It turned out that the young driver was travelling at 126 km/h where the speed limit was 70 km/h, exceeding the permitted limit by 56 km/h.
For the offence, the 21-year-old was issued a PLN 1,500 fine, and 13 penalty points were added to his record. In accordance with the applicable regulations, the police also seized his driving licence for three months.
The officers remind drivers that excessive speed remains one of the main causes of the most tragic road accidents. Even outside built-up areas, exceeding the speed limit significantly increases braking distance and reduces the time available to react in the event of unforeseen situations on the road.
The police appeal to all drivers to observe the applicable speed limits and adjust their speed to the conditions on the road. Safe driving helps reduce the risk of accidents and protects the lives of all road users.
