The lack of official announcements has led residents to wonder whether a similar fate could befall other stores operating under the Delikatesy Centrum banner.
This is not an isolated case
In recent months, information has emerged from various parts of Poland about Delikatesy Centrum stores closing without prior notice. In many towns, customers and employees learned that the outlets were ceasing operations only in the final days of their activity.
The changes are related to the restructuring of Grupa Eurocash, the owner of the Delikatesy Centrum brand. The company announced that it would focus on the franchise model and close unprofitable company-owned stores.
What will happen to the closed Delikatesy Centrum stores?
The closure of a Delikatesy Centrum store does not always mean that the premises will remain empty. Grupa Eurocash, the chain’s owner, announced that it is moving away from operating company-owned stores and wants to focus on developing the franchise model. In practice, this means that some outlets will close permanently, while others may be taken over by independent franchisees and continue operating under the Delikatesy Centrum banner.
The company emphasizes that it is reviewing the profitability of its stores and is primarily closing outlets that show no prospects for improved results. As Grupa Eurocash president Paweł Surówka announced, the company will consistently reduce the number of unprofitable company-owned stores.
Under Grupa Eurocash’s adopted strategy, the operations of Delikatesy Centrum’s company-owned stores are to be significantly reduced. The company announced the closure of around 150 company-owned outlets and the continued development of the chain based on franchising. However, no list of stores designated for closure or schedule of changes for individual locations has been published. The fate of each store is to be determined by its performance and the possibility of it being taken over by a franchisee.
What about the closed store in Bolesławiec?
This is the question most frequently asked by residents of Osiedle Kwiatowe. For now, it is not known whether the premises will be taken over by another retail chain, a new tenant, or remain empty.
Other Delikatesy Centrum stores are still operating in Bolesławiec, including the one on Kubika Street. The Kubika store is operating normally.
