Firefighters from Bolesławiec County have had several very busy hours behind them. On Monday, July 14, and during the night of July 14–15, severe storms passed over the region, accompanied by heavy rainfall, strong winds, and in some places also hail and lightning.

The effects of the sudden weather deterioration quickly made themselves felt by residents. Torrential rain led to the flooding of buildings, basements and private properties, while strong wind gusts damaged trees whose branches blocked roads and hindered traffic.

Firefighters reported that since the onset of the severe weather, 18 incidents directly related to the storms had been recorded. Rescuers focused primarily on pumping water out of flooded buildings and properties and removing fallen trees and branches from roads to restore safety for residents as quickly as possible.

Most importantly, despite the severe weather phenomena, no one was injured. Thanks to the efficient actions of the firefighters, it was possible to limit the effects of the storm and quickly secure the most dangerous locations.

However, the services’ work did not end there. Alongside removing the effects of the storms, firefighters also responded to other reports requiring urgent intervention, looking after the safety of residents throughout the county.

Thanks are due for their efficient work to all State Fire Service crews and Volunteer Fire Service units from Bolesławiec County, which conducted operations for many hours in difficult weather conditions.

Forecasters remind residents that during future storm warnings, it is worth securing objects located on properties, avoiding parking cars under trees, and following weather updates and service warnings.
