Irresponsible behavior by electric scooter users can constantly be observed on the streets of Bolesławiec. This time, a Reader recorded two boys riding one electric scooter along aleja Tysiąclecia. The young people traveled this way for a longer stretch—from the intersection with ulica Spokojna to the turnoff toward the housing estate. The recording was made at the end of June.
We remind you that, under the regulations, an electric scooter is intended for one person only. Carrying a passenger is prohibited and poses a serious safety risk.
As of June 3, 2026, new regulations concerning the safety of the youngest road users are also in force. Children and young people under 16 who ride bicycles, electric scooters or personal transport devices are required to wear protective helmets.
It is also worth noting that a person riding an electric scooter should travel as close as possible to the right edge of the roadway.
Under Polish regulations:
- if there is a bicycle path or a pedestrian and bicycle path (and it is intended for the direction of travel), the scooter user should use it;
- if there is no such path, they may ride on the roadway, when the speed limit on it is 30 km/h;
- when riding on the roadway, they should keep as close as possible to the right edge of the roadway, similarly to a cyclist;
- only exceptionally may they use the sidewalk when there is no bicycle path and traffic on the roadway is moving at a speed above 30 km/h. In that case, they must travel at a speed close to walking speed, exercise particular caution and give way to pedestrians.
We appeal to all electric scooter users to obey traffic regulations and exercise common sense. Disregarding the rules can lead to a serious accident or even tragedy. Road safety depends on the responsibility of every road user.
