A police patrol and firefighters from the State Fire Service Rescue and Firefighting Unit in Lwówek Śląski were dispatched to the scene. Preliminary findings indicate that the BMW driver, a 22-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County, lost control of the vehicle at an intersection and crashed into a safety barrier, which prevented the car from entering the river. The driver did not suffer serious injuries and did not require hospitalization.
As junior warrant officer Olga Łukaszewicz from the County Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski told the lwowecki.info website, the incident was caused by driving too fast for the road conditions. The offender was fined.
Police are appealing for caution. Persistently high temperatures affect concentration, lengthen reaction times and increase the risk of mistakes behind the wheel, which can lead to serious road incidents.
