On 9–10 June, representatives of III Publiczne Liceum Oxpress from Bolesławiec attended the ceremonial award gala for the best national teams in the 9th edition of the European Statistics Competition. The competition is organized by Eurostat and Główny Urząd Statystyczny, and the official award ceremony was held at the GUS headquarters in Warsaw.
The scale of the event is best reflected in the numbers. This year’s edition involved schools from 22 European countries. A total of 2,293 schools entered the competition, fielding 9,096 teams. As many as 28,832 students took part.
Against this background, the achievement of the Oxpress students is impressive. The LO-OXPRESS team, made up of Laura and Jan, took 3rd place in Poland and simultaneously ranked among the 100 best teams in all of Europe.
This is an achievement that will go down in the school’s history. Laura and Jan became the authors of one of the most important educational successes not only of III Publiczne Liceum Oxpress, but also of all upper-secondary schools in Bolesławiec County.
– We are already looking ahead to the olympiads in which we will compete next school year. We hope that the opening of the “Stat-Mat” Oxpress Scientific Club will help us achieve even better results – emphasizes the team’s supervisor and mathematics teacher, Paweł Kruglik.
As the educator notes, during the gala the Oxpress students were among the youngest participants from the group of secondary schools, which further confirms their potential and opportunities for continued development.
– Today we can celebrate a success that we worked toward for many months. I am moved, proud and happy, while also very tired after a whole year of challenges – says Paweł Kruglik.
Laura and Jan have joined the ranks of the most decorated students in the school’s history. Preparations are already underway at Oxpress for further competitions and olympiads in which the students will represent the school next school year.
