An excessive level of acrylamide detected in biscuits

As a result of tests conducted by the State Sanitary Inspection, irregularities were found in specific batches of Petit Beurre biscuits by Apetilki.

According to the food safety notice, the product was assessed as a potential health risk to consumers. The risk assessment was carried out by the National Institute of Public Health PZH – National Research Institute.

The problem concerns an elevated acrylamide content, a compound formed, among other things, during the thermal processing of starch-containing food products.

The warning concerns specific batches of the product:

Manufacturer: Eurobrand Sp. z o.o., ul. Płochocińska 111/114, 03-044 Warszawa.

Batch numbers and best-before dates:

  • 10.05.2027.B – best-before date: 10.05.2027
  • 20.05.2027.A – best-before date: 20.05.2027.

The manufacturer has begun withdrawing the product

After receiving information about the risk, the manufacturer took steps to withdraw the specified batches of biscuits from sale.

The company also reported implementing corrective measures in the production process. According to the information provided, the batches of biscuits currently being produced have an acrylamide content consistent with the recommendations in force in the European Union.

The manufacturer remains in contact with sanitary supervision authorities and is implementing recommendations related to product safety.

Authorities are monitoring the withdrawal of the biscuits
