A reader informed us about the incident (and also took a photograph). An unknown person defaced the timetable sign at one of the bus stops. A red inscription reading “Jxxxx Ukraine” appeared on the glass, partially obscuring the information intended for passengers.

As a result, the timetable became illegible, making it more difficult for residents and visitors to use public transport. Removing the inscription will require intervention by the infrastructure manager.

The incident, however, goes beyond an ordinary act of vandalism. The inscription is anti-Ukrainian in nature and may be perceived both as an expression of stupidity and vandalism, and as an act of hostility toward Ukraine and people of Ukrainian nationality.

This is another example of damage to shared public space, which should serve local residents. In this case, the perpetrator not only damaged property but also left a message provoking controversy and strong social emotions.

Unfortunately, this is not the only such case in our city. More than a year ago, a vulgar and hateful inscription appeared on the noise barrier on Zgorzelecka Street.
