The authorities of Bolesławiec are drawing attention to the growing problem of fires occurring at the municipal cemetery. Since the beginning of the year, five cases involving the ignition of candles and grave decorations have already been recorded. Officials are appealing to residents to exercise caution and follow the rules for the safe use of candles.

One of the main causes of dangerous incidents is the improper use of candles designed for electric inserts. Some people put traditional paraffin or oil inserts in them, even though they are not designed for this purpose.

The problem is that many candles of this type are made of plastic. These materials are not resistant to high temperatures or open flames. As a result, the casing may melt and then catch fire. The flames can spread very quickly to nearby flowers, wreaths or other decorative elements, creating a real fire hazard.

Similar incidents are also being recorded at other cemeteries in Poland. Specialists point out that many types of candles and grave decorations are currently available on the market, differing both in the materials from which they are made and in their intended use. Therefore, before purchasing a product, it is worth checking the manufacturer's information about the type of inserts and the product's resistance to high temperatures.

The city reminds residents that safety at the cemetery depends on the responsible behavior of all visitors. Proper use of candles, regular inspection of decorations left at graves, and using products in accordance with their intended purpose can significantly reduce the risk of fires.

The authorities are appealing to residents to pay particular attention to the type of candles and inserts they use. This will make it possible not only to improve safety at the municipal cemetery, but also to preserve the peace and dignified character of this place of remembrance.
