Two uniformed officers from the Bolesławiec headquarters were honored for taking part in operations to extinguish the Solska Forest fire. The officers represented the Lower Silesian GFFF module, specializing in fighting fires in forests and hard-to-reach areas.

The honors were presented during a ceremony attended by the Lower Silesian Voivode. Certificates from the Provincial Commander of the State Fire Service were received by:

  • st. asp. Rafał Fajkowski;
  • ogn. Tomasz Mius, who was additionally promoted to a higher service rank.

Large-scale fires are among the most demanding rescue and firefighting operations. Firefighters work in difficult conditions, often for many hours, battling rapidly spreading flames and high temperatures.

Such operations require not only experience, but also excellent cooperation and specialized training.

What is the GFFF module?

It is a specialized “Ground Forest Fire Fighting” module designed to extinguish forest fires using vehicles and off-road equipment. Units of this type are prepared to operate both domestically and abroad as part of the international emergency response support system. Firefighters forming the module undergo additional training and take part in operations requiring work in extreme conditions.

The participation of firefighters from Bolesławiec in operations during the Solska Forest fire demonstrates the important role specialized rescue groups play in protecting people, forests and infrastructure from the effects of natural disasters.

Bolesławiec County State Fire Service:

We sincerely congratulate you and thank you for your professionalism during the operation!
