Sanepid reported the detection of bacteria Salmonella spp. in one of the samples of the food supplement Verdin Fix Kompozycja 6 ziół. The warning concerns a specific batch of the product, which has already been subject to a withdrawal procedure.

As stated in the announcement, the contamination was detected during an official inspection conducted by the State Sanitary Inspection. The presence of the bacteria was confirmed in one of five tested samples.

Experts from the National Institute of Public Health PZH – National Research Institute assessed that the product bearing the specified batch number may pose a risk to consumers’ health. The risk primarily concerns situations in which the bacteria could be transferred to other surfaces, such as hands or kitchen fixtures, during contact with the product.

At the same time, it was emphasized that preparing the infusion according to the instructions on the packaging significantly reduces the risk of live Salmonella spp. bacteria being present in the finished drink.

  • best-before date: 31.03.2028
  • manufacturer: USP Zdrowie Sp. z o.o., ul. Poleczki 35, 02-822 Warszawa

Consumers who have the product from the specified batch should refrain from consuming it.

Manufacturer withdraws the product

The manufacturer reported that, after receiving information about the challenged product, it voluntarily decided to withdraw the specified batch from the market and halt further deliveries from the warehouse.

The matter is currently being investigated by the official food control authorities, which are cooperating with the manufacturer to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection. When should you contact a doctor?

GIS reminds consumers that people who have consumed the product and notice symptoms of food poisoning should contact a doctor.

The most common symptoms of Salmonella infection include:

  • diarrhea,
  • abdominal pain,
  • fever,
  • nausea,
  • vomiting,
  • weakness.

Children, older people and people with weakened immune systems are most at risk of a severe course of the infection.

GIS urges consumers to carefully check the product batch number on the packaging and not consume the product covered by the announcement.
