The best result in the prestigious combat utility competition for tank platoons was achieved by soldiers from the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów, representing the 11th Lubusz Armored Cavalry Division. Second place went to the Abrams tank crews from the 1st Tank Battalion in Żurawica, representing the 18th Mechanized Division. Third place was taken by the crews of modern K2 tanks from the 1st Tank Battalion in Morąg, representing the 16th Mechanized Division.

Combat utility competitions are not only sporting contests, but above all practical tests of soldiers’ skills. Crews must demonstrate effectiveness under time pressure, precision, teamwork and a high level of tactical and technical training. The events include, among other things, firing, overcoming terrain obstacles and carrying out combat tasks under conditions as close as possible to real operational activity.

The triumph of the soldiers from the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade shows that experience and training standards still play a key role, even when the most advanced military technologies face one another.

The competition results are also an important signal regarding the development of Poland’s armored forces. The Polish army is intensively modernizing its armed forces, investing both in new Abrams and K2 tanks and in the modernization of Leopard 2PLs. Exercises and competitions of this kind make it possible to test the effectiveness of the equipment and the soldiers’ practical readiness.

The competition once again showed that Polish armored units are currently among the best-trained formations in the region. For the soldiers, it was not only a prestigious test, but also an opportunity to exchange experience and improve skills that may be crucial during actual combat operations.
