On Monday, 11 May, eighth-grade students at primary schools throughout Poland began the 2026 eighth-grader exam. In Bolesławiec, a total of 414 students took the compulsory test. For many young residents of the city, it is one of the most important moments marking the end of their primary-school education.

The largest number of students are taking the exam at municipal primary schools—360 people. Another 54 students are sitting the exam at schools run by bodies other than the Municipality of Bolesławiec.

The exams take place over three days. The schedule is as follows:

  • Polish – 11 May 2026,
  • mathematics – 12 May 2026,
  • modern foreign language – 13 May 2026.

The eighth-grader exam is compulsory and is a condition for completing primary school. Although it is not possible to fail it, the results obtained are very important during recruitment to secondary schools. It is the number of points earned that often determines admission to the chosen secondary school, technical school or vocational school.

The purpose of the exam is to assess the degree to which students have mastered the knowledge and skills specified in the core curriculum. For students, it is also the first such important external examination in their education.

The official results of the 2026 eighth-grader exam will be announced on 3 July. On that day, primary-school graduates will learn their results, which will be taken into account during recruitment to secondary schools.

Additional dates have also been scheduled for students who, for health or unforeseen reasons, cannot take the exams in May. The additional exams will take place:

  • Polish – 8 June 2026,
  • mathematics – 9 June 2026,
  • modern foreign language – 10 June 2026.

Schools in Bolesławiec will experience emotions, stress and hopes for good results over the coming days. Both students and teachers emphasize that the eighth-grader exam is an important step toward further education and choosing a future educational path.
