Powiat Lubański has received a promise of nearly PLN 13 million, which will be allocated to the comprehensive renovation of the road running through Uniegoszcz and Nawojów Śląski to the border with Powiat Bolesławiecki. It is one of the most important road investments in this part of the region following last year’s flood.
The road has been of great importance for years to residents commuting to work, schools and businesses. In September 2024, however, the route was seriously damaged by the swollen Kwisa River. In some places, the water flooded the road and caused damage to road infrastructure along a several-kilometre section.
As Powiat Lubański Starosta Zbigniew Zjawin announces, the tender for the project is to be announced as early as mid-May. Roadworks should begin no later than after the summer holidays.
If the schedule is maintained, drivers will use the new route in less than a year.
The renovation will cover more than 10 kilometres of road. Plans include, among other things, widening the carriageway, modernising culverts and restoring drainage channels. New road signs and crash barriers will also be installed to improve safety on the most challenging sections.
For residents of Nowogrodziec and the surrounding area, the investment primarily means easier and safer travel towards Lubań. It is also important news for local businesses and transport operators, as this route is one of the key connections between Powiat Lubański and Powiat Bolesławiecki.
