Participants in the “Boundless Fascination with Art Bolesławiec – Kamenz 2011” plein-air workshop are creating their works at the International Ceramics Centre and throughout the city itself. On the first day of the artistic activities, guests from the German side toured Bolesławiec, looking for inspiration in the city to create their works.
This Sunday, July 17, at the Jazzva restaurant in BOK MCC, the workshop leader, Mateusz Grobelny, is organising the “I Collect Breaths” happening. “I make clay spheres. Someone inserts a straw inside, then blows air into it and removes the air. This is repeated many times. The object takes shape, and I later preserve it. The sculpture will then be numbered and described with the name and occupation of the person who blew into it. I will make an installation from these spheres for the closing of the workshop,” says Mateusz Grobelny, inviting everyone to take part in the action.
Two happenings will be organised: on July 21 in Bolesławiec and on July 22 in Kamenz. Additionally, every day from July 12 to 16, the artists will present their works during special meetings with the artists. They take place at 7:00 p.m. in the MCC conference room. Admission to the meetings is free.
The Polish artists participating in the workshop are: Kamila Michoń (painting), Edyta Orlińska (ceramics), Rafał Tur (graphic art, photography), Zbigniew Zieliński (painting), Magdalena Konieczna (glasswork), Agnieszka Bondzior (ceramics), and Mateusz Grobelny (sculpture).
The German artists participating in the workshop are: Volker Lenkeit (sculpture, painting), Frank Voigt (sculpture), Tanja Rein (painting), Moni West (painting), and Katja Springer.
The “Boundless Fascination with Art Bolesławiec – Kamenz 2011” project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund and by state budget funds, with the support of Euroregion Nysa.
