On April 14, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m., an incident occurred on Chrobrego Street in Nowogrodziec. Firefighters were called to an unusual intervention – a cat had been in one of the trees for several days and was unable to climb down to the ground on its own.
The animal was approximately 8 meters above the ground. According to the report, the cat had already been there for three days and clearly needed help. The situation required a quick response, especially since the area around the tree was waterlogged and made rescue operations more difficult.
The firefighters used an extension ladder to reach the frightened animal. Gaining its trust proved crucial – only then was it possible to safely retrieve the cat. After a while, a firefighter brought the animal down to the ground, and the operation itself ended successfully.
The cat was handed over to its owner, who also received advice on properly securing the pet. This was all to avoid similar situations in the future.
Although the intervention was not among the most dangerous, it showed how important a quick response and the services’ readiness to act in any situation are – even one that may seem trivial. Thanks to their commitment, the story ended happily, and the cat returned home safe and sound.
