The District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica filed an indictment at the end of March this year against two men from Legnica who, on 29 August last year, during a league match between Wisła Kraków and Miedź Legnica, attacked a teenager and his sister—supporters of the opposing team (from Silesia). The suspects robbed the teenager in order to take his club shirt and scarf, kicking him in the face, while they grabbed his sister, violating her bodily integrity.

– The first defendant is 24-year-old Igor K., with primary education, no profession, supporting himself through casual work, and previously convicted of robbery and assault, that is, crimes against life and health and against property – explains Liliana Łukasiewicz from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica. – He was the more aggressive of the two and kicked the teenager in the face during the incident, causing facial bruising that resulted in a health impairment lasting less than seven days.

What is known about the second defendant?

The second defendant is 32-year-old Dawid C., with vocational education, unemployed, supporting himself on benefits, and repeatedly convicted of theft, that is, crimes against property. He will face charges of robbery as a repeat offender.

The prosecutor charged the aforementioned men from Legnica with committing the crime for hooligan motives, which results in increased criminal liability.

The injured parties did not report the crime in this case. Prosecutor L. Łukasiewicz: – Both they and the perpetrators were identified on the basis of surveillance footage.

Igor K. was detained on 1 December 2025. He was placed in pre-trial detention, which was extended until 29 April this year. Dawid C. was detained on 15 January 2026. He too was remanded in custody—until 15 April this year.

K. was issued a club stadium ban immediately after being identified by a club employee.

During a search of C.’s apartment, drugs were found: 96.53 g of methamphetamine and 256.54 g of marijuana. (This offense carries a penalty of up to 12 years in prison).

Questioned as a suspect, Igor K. did not admit to committing the offense with which he was charged. He refused to provide an explanation. In response to his defense lawyer’s questions, he admitted only to violating the injured man’s bodily integrity. He denied violating the bodily integrity of the man’s sister. Questioned before the court during the detention hearing, he admitted kicking the teenager in the face. He denied taking the shirt.

Questioned as a suspect, Dawid C. admitted possessing drugs, but not robbery. He said that he had been at the stadium on the day of the incident, but did not remember the course of events precisely.

What penalties do they face?

For the crimes committed, the defendants face a total sentence of between 2 and 15 years in prison. They will also have to compensate the injured party for the damage caused. The case will be heard by the District Court in Legnica.

What does the law say?

When sentencing someone for an offense of a hooligan nature, the court imposes the penalty provided for the offense attributed to the perpetrator at an amount no lower than the statutory minimum increased by one-half.

§ 2. In the case specified in § 1, the court orders a surcharge for the benefit of the injured party, unless it orders compensation for damage, redress for the harm suffered, or a surcharge pursuant to Article 46. If the injured party has not been identified, the court may order a surcharge for the benefit of the Fund for Assistance to Victims and Post-Penitentiary Assistance.
