The Powiatowa Stacja Sanitarno-Epidemiologiczna invites residents to an Open Day, which will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 12:00 to 14:30.

The event is open to all interested residents of Bolesławiec County. The meeting will be held at the headquarters of the Powiatowa Stacja Sanitarno-Epidemiologiczna in Bolesławiec, at 8 Górników Street.

As the organizers explain, the Open Day will provide an opportunity for direct contact with sanitary inspection staff and to learn about the scope of their daily work. Participants will be able to find out what the activities of the sanitary inspection look like in practice – from checking hygienic conditions and supervising food, to activities related to health prevention.

– During the event, staff will share their knowledge and experience and familiarize participants with every area of our work. It is also a chance to receive answers to questions they may have – the organizers emphasize.

Visiting the State Sanitary Inspection (that is, the sanitary inspection service) has a very practical dimension – both for residents and business owners. The most common reasons for visits include:

🧾 Formal and administrative matters

  • registration of business activity (e.g. catering, a beauty salon or a nursery),
  • approval of premises before starting operations,
  • obtaining a sanitary opinion,
  • consultations when designing premises (e.g. a kitchen or office).

🧪 Tests and certificates

  • carrying out tests for sanitary and epidemiological purposes (the so-called “sanitary booklet”),
  • water testing (e.g. from a well),
  • food or environmental sample testing.

🦠 Reports and interventions

  • reporting irregularities (e.g. dirt in a restaurant or poor hygienic conditions),
  • reporting suspected food poisoning,
  • providing information about infectious diseases or outbreaks.

📚 Education and prevention

  • obtaining information about vaccinations,
  • advice on hygiene, public health, air or water quality,
  • participation in educational campaigns and prevention programs.

🏫 Matters concerning institutions

  • inspection and supervision of schools, preschools and care facilities,
  • consultations for directors and owners of public-use facilities.

🏢 Inspections and supervision

  • inspections of workplaces, catering establishments and stores,
  • checking sanitary conditions and compliance with regulations.

In practice, the sanitary inspection service is not only about “inspections”, but also a place where people can obtain specific information and help with matters related to public health and sanitary safety.
