Let us recall. On 3 August, we reported that the municipal swimming pool in Lwówek Śląski had been temporarily closed after an incident that occurred on Monday, 3 August. The reason was contamination of the water by one of the people using the facility.
As reported by Gmina i Miasto Lwówek Śląski, the facility would remain closed until all necessary sanitary procedures had been completed and it had been confirmed that using the pool was fully safe. – Due to water contamination by one of the users, the municipal swimming pool is temporarily closed until the necessary sanitary procedures are completed and the full safety and hygiene of users are ensured – the local government said in an official statement.
As reported by the Lwówecki.info portal, a so-called fecal incident occurred; the contamination was noticed while the swimming facility was in operation. Residents reported that the waste may have appeared not only in one, but in both pool basins.
The lifeguards immediately took action in accordance with the applicable procedures. Everyone in the water was instructed to leave the basins, and use of the swimming facility was suspended. Initially, visitors could still remain in the beach area, but ultimately the entire facility was temporarily closed.
Employees of the Powiatowa Stacja Sanitarno-Epidemiologiczna w Lwówku Śląskim and the facility manager arrived on site. The scale of the contamination is being assessed, and water samples are being collected for microbiological testing. Their results will be crucial to the decision on reopening the pool.
