The incident took place in the back room of one of the stores in Złotoryja. – Taking advantage of the employees’ momentary inattention, the man entered the storage area, from where he used a shopping cart and basket to carry away food and alcoholic products worth nearly PLN 1,200 in total – reports asp. szt. Monika Kaleta of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
She adds:
A moment later, the man was noticed by a local resident, who saw that he was pushing a shopping cart filled with various products and looking around suspiciously, so he decided to report the matter to the police.
Officers immediately went to the scene, where they intervened with the 26-year-old man.
What did the officers establish?
They established that the food and alcoholic products came from one of the nearby stores. The thief was well known to the officers, as he had committed shoplifting on numerous occasions.
The man was immediately arrested and placed in a police cell, while the stolen goods were returned to the store shelves. The 26-year-old was charged with theft, for which he faces up to five years in prison.
