the Board of the Association of People with Disabilities in Bolesławiec
The history of SON in Bolesławiec began on 18 August 1997. The Association’s aim was the integration, rehabilitation, and active participation of people with disabilities in social life. Over the years, it has organized rehabilitation stays, occupational therapy workshops, cultural and sports trips, and equipment assistance.
Initially, its activities focused on integration with the community of people without disabilities, including through meetings and joint outings. Between 1997 and 2005, development was based on fundraising, which made it possible to organize trips for approximately 100 people per year.
Between 1999 and 2004, the Association expanded its activities to include children and young people with intellectual disabilities, creating an assistance group, a community center, and a community self-help home. By 2012, membership had grown to approximately 450, while activities also included equipment support and cooperation with numerous institutions.
In 2025, a new board was elected and plans were made for, among other things, rehabilitation trips, excursions, and integration meetings, while continuing programs for adults and children.
