Today (25.03.2026 ) at the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, an agreement was signed launching the process of consolidating hospitals in Bolesławiec and Zgorzelec. The agreement between the local government units, namely Bolesławiec County and Zgorzelec County, was signed by Bolesławiec County Governor Tomasz Gabrysiak together with Deputy Bolesławiec County Governor Patryk Hałka and Zgorzelec County Governor Artur Bieliński together with Deputy Zgorzelec County Governor Mirosław Fiedorowicz.

The event was attended by: Minister of Health Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda, NFZ President Filip Nowak, Director of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Branch of the NFZ Łukasz Sendecki, Lower Silesian Voivode Anna Żabska, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Paweł Gancarz, Director of St. Luke's Hospital Kamil Barczyk, Director of the Multispecialist Independent Public Healthcare Facility Zofia Barczyk, members of the Bolesławiec County Board: Alina Zarembecka, Krzysztof Basiak and Maciej Marnicki, as well as councillor Jarosław Nenkin.

This is an important step towards building a modern and stable healthcare system that responds to the real needs of the region's residents.

The aim of the planned measures is to create a strong and financially stable healthcare provider capable of ensuring comprehensive, high-quality healthcare for residents of Zgorzelec and Bolesławiec counties. Consolidation will enable the rational use of the organisational and material resources of both facilities, while maintaining continuity in the provision of services.

A key premise of the merger is to increase access to healthcare services. Integrating the staff potential and medical infrastructure will make it possible in the coming years to expand the scope of medical activities and shorten waiting times for selected procedures.

– This is a responsible, long-term decision. We are combining the potential of both facilities to provide residents with better access to modern and coordinated healthcare – the local government representatives emphasise.

The consolidation process will be carried out in stages, taking into account organisational, legal and financial analyses. The priority remains the health security of residents and the further development of medical services in the region.

The signed agreement is one of the first examples of this type of cooperation in Poland and may set the direction for further initiatives strengthening the healthcare system at the local level.
