Criminal investigators established the identities and then detained a 39-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man suspected of theft. Both are residents of Kamienna Góra County.
The incident occurred on 5 March this year, during the morning hours, in the Zabobrze housing estate in Jelenia Góra. – According to the officers’ findings, at around 10 a.m., two people knocked on the elderly woman’s apartment door—a woman and the man accompanying her. The woman said that she was collecting old clothing and then asked for food for the man, explaining that he was ill – explains sub-inspector Edyta Bagrowska from the Jelenia Góra Municipal Police Headquarters.
Wanting to help, the elderly woman let both people into the apartment. During the visit, the woman left the premises, claiming that she had to take care of something on an upper floor of the building. Spokesperson:
Meanwhile, the victim remained in the kitchen with the man, preparing a meal for him. After a while, the woman returned, and then both of them left the apartment.
Only after they had left did the 91-year-old realize that cash amounting to PLN 20,000 had disappeared from a wallet kept in a cabinet.
Through operational work and analysis of the information collected, police officers identified and detained the people suspected of committing the crime. They turned out to be a 39-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, residents of Kamienna Góra County. They were detained on 24 March this year at the woman’s place of residence and then taken to police custody.
Both have already been charged with theft, for which they face up to five years in prison. Officers are currently clarifying all the circumstances of the case and taking steps to recover the stolen property.
