On 18 March, the Municipal Qualifiers of the National Fire Safety Knowledge Tournament “Youth Prevents Fires” were held. The event aimed to promote fire safety rules and popularize knowledge about the activities of the fire service among young people.
Nowogrodziec Municipal Office:
The event, organized for young firefighting enthusiasts, brought together students from schools in the Municipality and City of Nowogrodziec.
The tournament was held under the honorary patronage of Joanna Świder, mayor of Nowogrodziec. The event was also attended by the president of the Management Board of the Municipal and Commune Branch of ZOSP RP in Nowogrodziec, Eugeniusz Pańków, the president of the Management Board of the District Branch of ZOSP RP in Bolesławiec, dh. Stanisław Żółtański, and Agata Kleszczyńska, director of the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Nowogrodziec.
The competition consisted of two stages. The first was a written test in which participants had to demonstrate their knowledge of firefighting. After the test, the best competitors qualified for the second stage, in which they presented their knowledge orally by describing randomly selected firefighting equipment.
The participants were assessed by a committee consisting of:
- Rafał Fajkowski – committee chair,
- Aneta Wolak – secretary,
- Sławomir Sobucki – committee member.
The tournament was an excellent opportunity to popularize knowledge about fire protection and the role of the Volunteer Fire Service in the local community. The participants demonstrated tremendous commitment and passion, showing how important initiatives of this kind are in educating young people.
Participants who placed first through third in their age categories qualified for the district stage of the tournament, which will be held in April at the II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec.
