On March 18, 2026, at approximately 10:16 a.m., officers from the Prevention Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra were dispatched to intervene at one of the primary schools in Jelenia Góra.

The report concerned a disturbing incident involving two students. As established at the scene, the homeroom teacher of one of the classes reported that during a break between lessons, two 14-year-old students—a girl and a boy—had engaged in an act of self-harm.

Fortunately, the incident did not result in serious injuries—the students suffered only superficial wounds. Immediately afterward, the students were provided with appropriate care, and emergency services were called to the scene.

The emergency medical team provided the minors with the necessary medical assistance. The students’ legal guardians were also called to the school and took over their further care.

In connection with the incident, teachers held preventive discussions with the students, paying particular attention to the risks and consequences associated with this type of behavior.

The police are currently conducting explanatory proceedings aimed at establishing the exact circumstances and causes of the incident. The police appeal to parents, guardians, and teachers to pay particular attention to young people’s behavior and respond to any worrying signs that may indicate emotional problems or a mental health crisis.
