On Monday, 23 February 2026, officers of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec held a preventive and educational meeting with seniors at the Municipal Cultural and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec, based in Kruszyna.
Uniformed officers:
The main aim of the visit was to raise residents’ awareness of the dangers associated with fires and carbon monoxide poisoning, as well as to teach them how to save human lives.🚒🧑🚒
The meeting was part of the nationwide educational and information campaign “A Detector Guarding Your Safety!”, aimed at people who, during the heating season, are particularly exposed to dangers arising from faulty heating systems.
During the presentation, firefighters discussed the characteristics of carbon monoxide (CO) in detail. As an odourless, colourless and tasteless gas, it poses a huge danger that human senses are unable to detect.
They also discussed first-aid procedures in the event of sudden cardiac arrest, which can result from severe carbon monoxide poisoning and exposure to fire smoke.
A key part of the meeting was a presentation of alarm devices. Firefighters from the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec demonstrated how carbon monoxide and smoke detectors work, explaining the principles of their installation and maintenance.
🚨Detector requirement from 2030🚨
Headquarters:
We would like to inform you that, from 2030, residential premises will be required to be equipped with carbon monoxide detectors. We encourage you to install them today—the safety of residents should be a priority.
