Officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław and the Border Guard from the Nadodrze Branch conducted joint operations aimed at combating the trade in illegal excise goods.
The result? – Near Jędrzychowice, on the A4 motorway, they selected a van for inspection – reports Sebastian Polański, chief specialist at the Communications Department of the Tax Administration Chamber in Wrocław.
After opening the cargo compartment, the officers discovered bales of compressed dried tobacco.
Spokesperson: – Each weighed 30 kg. In total, 590 kg of dried tobacco without Polish excise stamps was secured. The dried tobacco was worth more than PLN 716,000.
The driver, aged 26, had no documents concerning the transported tobacco products. He was detained and questioned as a suspect.
The man was charged with bringing excise goods without excise stamps into the country.
