During operations on the A4 motorway, Customs and Tax Service officers from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław stopped a shipment of more than 23 tonnes of shredded plastics. – Initial findings indicated that the shipment might violate regulations governing the international movement of waste – says Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, spokesperson for the Lower Silesian KAS.

She adds:

The WIOŚ classified the shipment as illegal movement of waste, for which the recipient faces a fine of between PLN 10,000 and PLN 1 million.

What will happen to the waste?

Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek: – The waste shipment was returned to the sender in Germany.

KAS monitors the transboundary movement of waste and combats attempts to bring illegal waste into Poland. Preventing the illegal transboundary movement of waste is intended to protect people and the environment from its harmful effects.
