The incident occurred on February 4, after 2:00 a.m., on the 86th kilometre of the A4, between the Złotoryja and Legnica Południe interchanges, on the carriageway towards Wrocław. Firefighters report:

According to the report, the driver of a passenger car, travelling against traffic on the motorway, collided with a vehicle travelling correctly.

They add: – Upon arrival at the scene, the report was confirmed. The people involved in the incident were placed under the care of the Medical Rescue Team.

The perpetrator turned out to be an 87-year-old man, a resident of Świdnica. His Suzuki collided with a Ford. The senior was sober but could not explain why he was driving against traffic.

The perpetrator, as reported by Radio Wrocław, was taken to hospital. Fortunately, however, he did not suffer any more serious injuries. The Wrocław-based outlet:

Asp. Anna Tersa of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica adds that the 87-year-old’s driving licence was revoked. He will be referred for medical examinations to determine whether he should drive in the future. A motion will in turn be submitted to the court to punish him with a ban on driving motor vehicles.
