The reconstruction of provincial road no. 297 on the Lwówek Śląski–Pasiecznik section is entering another stage. Although the works have not yet formally begun in full, the project is arousing strong emotions among residents and local business owners. According to information obtained from the contractor, a new temporary traffic organization will be introduced from February 6, 2026, and will differ from last year's arrangement.
Tree felling – the biggest problem
The modernization of the DW297 section, planned for years, is intended to improve the road surface and traffic safety. Decisions concerning tree felling have proved to be the most serious problem.
The Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection (RDOŚ) did not approve the planned scale of tree felling, which significantly delayed the start of the works. As a result of these delays, the road was closed for a certain period, and after pressure from residents, traffic was restored on a limited basis.
New traffic organization from February
According to the contractor's announcement, a new traffic organization will be introduced on the section from February 6, differing from the one used the previous year.
The official detour will run via DW364 and DK30. In practice, some drivers may choose an alternative route through Pławna Dolna and Wleń because of greater travel comfort and shorter delays.
Detour plan
- Official detour: DW364 and DK30
- Alternative routes: Pławna Dolna and Wleń
Additionally, during the first month after traffic resumes, alternating one-way traffic will operate on selected sections of the road because of the ongoing tree felling.
