Bolesławiec criminal investigators identified and detained a pair of thieves who stole goods from large retail stores in October and December. Police: – The woman and the man acted jointly and in agreement, selecting goods and then, under the guise of legitimate shopping, taking unpaid products out of the stores after hiding them in a backpack or bag.
The total value of the stolen property was more than PLN 2,100. The haul included, among other things, perfumes, cosmetics, alcohol and pet food.
The detainees are a 35-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man, both residents of Bolesławiec. They were charged with theft, which carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison.
Officers: – In the man's case, the penalty may be more severe because he had previously been convicted of similar offenses and acted under recidivism provisions. Under the Criminal Code, this means he may receive a sentence increased to as much as 7.5 years in prison.
