This year, on Christmas Eve, retail in Poland is subject to a statutory trading ban. This means that most large stores and retail chains are closed on that day.
The decision follows an amendment to the regulations establishing the day before the holidays as a day off work also for retail employees.
There are, however, two Biedronka stores that are an exception to this rule and are open on December 24 despite the nationwide ban.
Both outlets are so-called agency stores at fuel stations: one in Różyńiec (Gromadka Municipality), and the other in Słubice (in the Przemysłowe housing estate, in Lubusz Voivodeship). These outlets will operate until 1:30 p.m.
Nationwide internet services such as Fakt, WP Finanse, RMF and NaTemat are reporting on the open Biedronka stores in Różyńiec and Słubice.
