Attention Catholics – the bishop has granted you permission, but you must do something in return

We present the decree of the Bishop of Legnica, which may be important for Catholics from the Diocese of Legnica.

DECREE

In response to numerous requests from the faithful, and out of respect for the custom of celebrating the Nativity of the Lord throughout all the days of the octave, on the basis of canon 87 § 1 of the Code of Canon Law, I grant the faithful staying in the Diocese of Legnica on 26 December 2025, the feast of Saint Stephen, First Martyr, a dispensation from the Fourth Precept of the Church, which includes, among other things: to observe (…) abstinence from meat. At the same time, I oblige all those making use of the dispensation to undertake works of mercy or other penitential acts.

I grant my pastoral blessing to all those celebrating the birth of the Son of God and commend them to God’s mercy.
