We reported in February 2022 about the truck left in a car park in Łąka:

The incident occurred on Thursday, 17 February, in the late morning. The services received information that hazardous materials might be located in the abandoned truck parked by a petrol station in Łąka.

(...) As we managed to establish, a suspicious chemical substance was found in the truck. Fortunately, reports of radioactive materials were not confirmed.

Today, 18 December 2025, the Bolesławiec municipality announced that the truck and its hazardous load had been removed:

After nearly three years of efforts, the tractor unit with a trailer abandoned in one of the car parks in Łąka, which contained hazardous waste, no longer poses a threat. The Bolesławiec municipality removed nearly 25 tonnes of waste and the vehicle itself.

In February 2022, a tractor unit with a trailer containing hazardous waste was abandoned in one of the car parks in Łąka. In June 2025, 24.900 Mg (tonnes) of hazardous waste located in the trailer was removed. It is worth noting that this figure does not include the weight of the vehicle itself—it is solely the amount of waste located on it, demonstrating the enormous scale of the harmful load. In mid-December this year, the vehicle itself was removed; due to its poor technical condition, it also constituted waste. Today, the site, which for nearly the last three years had not only been out of use but, above all, posed a danger, is free of the waste in question.

It is worth noting that all stages of the actions concerning the vehicle abandoned in the Bolesławiec municipality were carried out after consulting the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Wrocław, the District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Bolesławiec, the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec and the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Wrocław. It was an incredibly complex process. Let us recall that, until the waste was removed, the Head of the Bolesławiec Municipality had not obtained information about the person responsible for depositing it. Such information was provided neither by the District Court—the 2nd Criminal Division in Bolesławiec—nor by the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Inspector for Environmental Protection in Wrocław. Only the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra reported that an indictment had been filed against a suspect.

However, no final judgment had been issued in the case by the time the waste was removed. On the basis of a decision by the Supreme Administrative Court, which indicated the Head of the Bolesławiec Municipality as the authority competent to handle the case, administrative proceedings concerning the removal and management of the stored waste were initiated ex officio. These proceedings required a number of formalities, including the preparation of an expert report allowing the quantity and type of waste to be precisely determined, which made it possible to conduct a tender procedure. The cost of removing the vehicle and trailer and disposing of the hazardous waste was PLN 180,000. The Bolesławiec municipality submitted an application for a grant to the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, which was assessed positively. We also received a positive opinion from the Ministry of Climate and Environment.
