During a nighttime patrol of one of the city’s streets, community police officers from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec noticed an open door to a room located at the construction site of a new facility. Several dozen metres farther on, the officers saw a man pushing a shopping cart containing, among other things, several dozen metres of cable and pipes.
The police stopped the man for an inspection. The 24-year-old tried in various ways to explain where and from whom he had obtained the items he was transporting, but none of his versions was confirmed. He was arrested and taken to a police station.
Further findings by the officers confirmed that the secured property, worth nearly PLN 1,200, came from a theft committed at the construction site. The arrested 24-year-old resident of Osiecznica Municipality had previously been convicted of crimes against property.
Because he acted as a repeat offender, the man now faces an increased sentence of up to 7.5 years in prison.
