The Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra reported that “during the procedural activities carried out, a minor who may be connected” with the death of the 11-year-old girl was identified. Preliminary information indicates that the incident may have resulted from a murder.

The girl’s body was found on Monday, 15 December, at approximately 2:50 p.m. in the area of Wyspiańskiego Street in Jelenia Góra. As the services emphasize, the location was not accidental—it was near Primary School No. 10.

According to media reports, the victim was a student at this school. School principal Paweł Domagała, quoted by TVN24, described the girl as an exemplary student who achieved very good academic results and was involved in volunteering, sports activities and competitions.

Journalists have established that the “minor” referred to by police also attends this school, but is in an older class. At the same time, the services emphasize that at this stage there is no information indicating that the incident was connected with the school’s operation as an institution. Students, teachers and the victim’s family will receive psychological support.

The area around a small river near Wyspiańskiego Street has been secured, while police and the prosecutor’s office are carrying out intensive evidentiary activities. “At approximately 3:00 p.m., the girl’s body was found. Preliminary findings indicate that she was most likely the victim of a murder,” reported prosecutor Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.

Police and the prosecutor’s office announce that further information will be provided after key investigative activities have been completed. The case remains ongoing.
