15 December, at approximately 6:20 a.m., a serious road accident involving three vehicles occurred on W. Bartoszewskiego Avenue in Jelenia Góra (the Maciejowa bypass, national road no. 5). One person died and two were taken to hospital.
Preliminary findings indicate that the 46-year-old Citroen driver, travelling towards Wrocław, most likely failed to adjust her speed to the road conditions, lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the opposite lane, where she collided with a Toyota driven by a 60-year-old man travelling towards Jelenia Góra. The Citroen then left the road and ended up in a ditch. The Audi travelling behind the Toyota was unable to brake in time and collided with that vehicle.
The Citroen driver was trapped in the car and resuscitation was attempted. Unfortunately, she died as a result of her injuries. The Toyota driver and an Audi passenger were also taken to a medical facility. W. Bartoszewskiego Avenue is completely blocked. A detour has been designated via Wrocławska Street. Procedural activities are under way at the scene, while police officers are investigating the causes and circumstances of the accident in detail.
