On Saturday, May 28, the Bench Press Competition was held at the I Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Bolesławiec. Sixty-one competitors, including five women, took part in the tournament.

In the junior category, Jarosław Buczko from Ząbkowice Śląskie came first, pressing 160 kg. Bogumił Nowak from Budziszów took second place, while Paweł Nowak from Twardocice came third.

In the senior category, Łukasz Szwelnik from Kartuzy won. The strongman pressed 245 kg. Daniel Makowski from Tczew took second place, and Maciej Hirsz from Kartuzy came third.

In the older seniors’ category, Dariusz Formella from Kartuzy won, pressing 215 kg. Jerzy Lewandowski from Bolesławiec came second, while Krzysztof Halczyk from Międzylesie took third place.

Among the veterans, Henryk Romanek from Struga was the best, lifting 190 kg. Marek Drozdek took second place, and Ryszard Kucharski came third; both are from Bolesławiec.

In the older veterans’ category, Edmund Lechowicz from Żagań was unrivalled, lifting 155 kg. Bolesławiec resident Andrzej Kobzda took second place, while Janusz Hausner from Lubań came third.

In the women’s open category, Paulina Lechowicz from Żagań was the best, lifting 62.5 kg. Wrocław resident Bettina Razzouki-Korkis came second, while Żagań resident Patrycja Orzeszek took third place. In the open category for people with disabilities, Dariusz Poprawski won with 95 kg. Marcin Biernacki took second place; both are from Żagań.

  • Marek Orbach from Stronie Śląskie (135) – in the 66 kg category
  • Sławomir Purta from Bolesławiec (147.5) – in the 74 kg category
  • Arkadiusz Biel from Międzylesie (167.5) – in the 83 kg category
  • Bartosz Kowalski from Bogatynia (190) – in the 93 kg category
  • Łukasz Szwelnik from Kartuzy (245) – in the 105 kg category
  • Daniel Makowski from Tczew (240) – in the 120 kg category
  • Maciej Hirsz from Kartuzy (230) – in the +120 kg category

The tournament was accompanied by an Aerobics Marathon, in which 16 female athletes took part.
