The county is preparing for the biggest change in regional public transport in years. On 4 December, councillors met for an extraordinary session of the County Council, where they decided to take over the organisation of public transport from two neighbouring counties: Lwówek County and Złotoryja County.

The councillors were unanimous on this matter: 19 voted in favour. No one voted against and no one abstained.

What does this mean?

As we reported on 3 December:

This means that Bolesławiec County may become the central operator and coordinator of the connections network, which will cover several counties. For residents, this could mean better-coordinated timetables, more services and potentially entirely new connections.

Why is this so important?

This decision could completely change the balance of power in local transport. If transport in three counties is managed from one place—in Bolesławiec—a unified system will be created, something the region has not had before.
