The finals of the Polish Olympic Taekwondo Championships took place in Borne Sulinowo on the last weekend of May. UKS Ilyo Bolesławiec was represented by: Paulina Stojanowska, Kamil Serafin, Adam Filipek and Remigiusz Różnicki. Competing in the -55 kg category, Remigiusz faced the eventual gold medal winner, Patrik Chrapkowski from Olsztyn, in his very first bout. Ultimately, the Bolesławiec taekwondo athlete finished fifth in his weight category.
Paulina Stojanowska (-44 kg category) did not disappoint. The UKS Ilyo representative won the long-awaited gold. This is not her first medal at a championship-level competition. Last year, she won silver in the -42 kg category.
Adam Filipek, competing in the -68 kg category, can speak of bad luck. In the semifinal—30 seconds before the end of the final round—our taekwondo athlete suffered a serious injury, which ruled him out of further competition.
Kamil Serafin (-63), meanwhile, once again confirmed his class by winning his third Polish championship title.
