Children’s Day is a time when we make our little ones happy. We take them to special places and buy them presents. This year, the holiday falls in the middle of the week, which encourages people to organize celebrations over the preceding weekend. Some will celebrate it twice. There will be a present on June 1, and some other attraction at the weekend.

How much would we like to spend on Children’s Day presents? Let’s estimate the costs of organizing this day in Bolesławiec. How much can it cost?

Almost free

The almost-free version includes a practical present—something the child needs anyway. A new sweatshirt, shoes, some clothing or school supplies. These things can be made more special, for example with a logo from a favorite cartoon or a beloved character.

Unfortunately, Bolesławiec has only one well-equipped public playground for children, at Łukasiewicza Street. You can take your little one there or attend outdoor events organized by municipal and county institutions.

BOK-MCC invites children to a free event on Saturday, May 28. It will take place on the embankment in the Market Square. An artistic picnic for children will begin at 12:00. There will be games, karaoke, group drawing, face painting, a clown and many other attractions.

On Sunday, May 29, you can attend a free event organized by BKS and MOSIR at the Water and Sports Center on Spacerowa Street. There will be a football and chess tournament with prizes, as well as a barbecue. It begins at 10:00. The event was co-financed by the Municipality of Bolesławiec and Bader Polska.

On Wednesday, June 1, the Youth Cultural Center invites everyone to have fun. The event begins at 15:00. The program includes games and activities, arts and crafts, ceramics classes, flight simulators and vocal performances. A fire engine and a police car will arrive and can be toured. There will also be face painting and a clown.

The Ceramics Museum invites everyone to a free exhibition on June 1, “Childhood Memories: Toys from the PRL Era.” Visitors will see teddy bears stuffed with sawdust, dolls that constantly lost their shoes and a wooden rocking horse. The exhibition will also feature plastic excavators, an “Ikarus” bus and a metal car powered by the legs of its young driver—every boy’s object of desire.

Inexpensive and inventive

We can buy a simple inflatable toy for playing in the water. The present will cost 20–25 zł. With the toy, you can go to the newly opened “Orka” water park in Bolesławiec. On Children’s Day, admission tickets will exceptionally cost just 3 zł.

If we are worried that “Orka” will be crowded that day, we can buy a ball (5–15 zł), badminton rackets (about 30–50 zł) or a frisbee (plastic throwing discs costing 15–60 zł) and go with the children and our four-legged friend outside the city or to a municipal park to play together.

An original and not-too-expensive idea could be a trip outside the city to an attractive place for ice cream (from 8 to 16 zł per ice-cream dessert) or another treat the child likes. There are many such places around Bolesławiec. We recommend “Niebieski Burak,” where younger children can play, walk and even ride a donkey (20 zł for 30 minutes). People who provide the discount code from the “Niebieski Burak” advertisement on our website will receive a 10% discount at the restaurant.

Another interesting idea may be spending Children’s Day at “Oli” Playroom. The entertainers have prepared numerous contests and games with prizes, included in the admission ticket (9–11 zł per hour). Every child will receive sweets and a small gift. The celebrations can last five days, from Wednesday, June 1, through Sunday, June 5. Every child will feel special, and the activities will be adapted to the children’s ages.

Luxurious

In this version, we look for presents online and outside Bolesławiec, in brand stores and large shopping centers. You can buy a child a fashionable toy costing hundreds of złoty, such as collectible Lego sets, Barbie or other well-known-brand toys advertised on television. Toy sellers say that on Children’s Day, parents more often choose educational toys or those encouraging outdoor play.

A more expensive toy that also promotes health could be a bicycle or scooter, costing even several hundred złoty, special climbing equipment for older children or branded clothing for trips to the mountains or scuba diving in Egypt, with the trip costing several thousand złoty. For young horse-riding enthusiasts, it could be equestrian equipment. You can also buy a horse—in that case, it will truly be luxurious.

Children who play amateurishly or attend music schools can receive the instrument of their dreams. The more prestigious the brand and the farther it was produced from China, the more expensive it is. When making such purchases, it is worth ensuring that the child’s passion is not just a temporary whim. A guitar or violin can cost as much as one thousand złoty.

There is also a whole range of computer games, PlayStations, in various prices and configurations with lots of gadgets. However, you should examine the game box carefully to avoid buying one that is unsuitable for the child.

You can also take your child to European amusement parks. The trip can be purchased through travel agencies. It is best to look for promotions online. The most popular European parks include HeidePark (Hamburg, Germany), Disneyland (Paris, France) and Mirabilandia (Ravenna, Italy). Such a trip costs 1,200 to 1,800 zł per person.

Parents can choose from many options. But it is worth remembering that concern for children, showing them love, emphasizing how important they are to us and, above all, the time devoted to them are priceless.
