Bolesławiec City Hall has received a decision from the Minister of Finance and Economy confirming the provision of funds for the investment. As part of the state budget’s targeted reserve, established to prevent and remove the effects of natural disasters, PLN 8,992,224 has been reserved for the reconstruction of the bridge. This is a long-awaited decision that paves the way for restoring a safe connection between the banks of the Bóbr.
City Hall:
Let us recall that the pedestrian and cycling bridge was destroyed during the flood, and its technical condition necessitated its immediate demolition. For many residents, this was a painful loss – the bridge not only made everyday travel easier, but was also a symbol of functional access to the recreational centre.
– This is very good news for all the people of Bolesławiec. The decision to grant funding for the reconstruction of the pedestrian and cycling bridge is the news we have been eagerly awaiting. Thanks to the minister’s decision, we can begin preparations to carry out a project that will once again make everyday life easier for many residents – says Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman.
In connection with the funding granted, the city mayor decided to abandon the construction of a temporary pedestrian and cycling bridge on Gdańska Street, as the priority is now the permanent reconstruction of a new crossing. – There is no point in investing in a temporary solution when we can focus all our efforts and resources on the permanent reconstruction of a bridge that will serve residents for decades. Thanks to this decision, we are acting sensibly and economically – Mayor Piotr Roman emphasises.
The new bridge is to be not only functional, but also safe – designed with pedestrians and cyclists in mind and intended to blend harmoniously into the landscape along the Bóbr. Reconstructing the crossing is another step towards restoring the city’s infrastructure after the damage caused by the disaster.
