Bolesławiec County invites residents to celebrate National Independence Day together. This year’s 11 November celebrations in Bolesławiec promise to be exceptionally solemn and varied – from traditional patriotic ceremonies and historical re-enactments to a concert performed by local artists.
The ceremonies will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Holy Mass for the Homeland at the Bolesławiec Marian Basilica at 3 Kościelna Street. Then, at 12:00 p.m., the Independence Day Roll Call of Remembrance will take place beneath the Monument to the Centenary of Regaining Independence on Bankowa Street, with the participation of representatives of the authorities, uniformed services and county residents.
After the roll call, participants will be able to watch the march of the Honour Guard Company of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment and the mounted cavalcade of the 6th Kaniow Uhlan Regiment Reconstruction Group, which will travel through the city streets in a colourful historical procession.
The next item on the programme, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., will be the Military Picnic in the Bolesławiec County Office car park at 12 Armii Krajowej Street. It will feature a performance by a historical re-enactment group, horse rides for children, and displays of military equipment from the US Army and the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Commando Company. Traditional military pea soup will also be served, as it attracts considerable interest from participants every year.
The celebrations will conclude with an Independence Concert performed by the Bolesławiec Youth Cultural Centre’s workshop, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Old Theatre. Admission to the concert is free.
Organizers invite all county residents to take part in events that combine reflection on history with the joy of celebrating together.
