More than 200 athletes competed in the International Olympic Taekwondo Tournament Bydgoszcz Cup, held on Saturday, May 14. Bolesławiec was represented by three UKS Ilyo taekwondo athletes: Mateusz Boczarski, Paulina Stojanowska and Kamil Serafin. Mateusz returned from Bydgoszcz without a medal after facing Polish runner-up Marcin Janas (AZS OŚ Poznań) in his very first bout.
Paulina Stojanowska did not disappoint, winning a bronze medal in the -46 kg category. However, the best performance was delivered by Kamil Serafin, who won gold in the -63 kg category and the title of the tournament’s best junior. In the final, our taekwondo athlete defeated the host representative Michał Ratkowski. It is worth noting that Kamil finished all his earlier bouts before the time limit.
The finals of the Polish Olympic Taekwondo Championships will be held in late May in Borne Sulinowo. UKS Ilyo Bolesławiec will be represented there by: Paulina Stojanowska, Kamil Serafin, Adam Filipek and Remigiusz Różnicki.
