We recently reported that the Legnica Regional Court issued a judgment ordering the Diocese of Legnica to pay nearly one million zlotys in compensation to two girls harmed by the former parish priest from Ruszów. At the beginning of September, information emerged that the judgment was already final. Father Waldemar Wesołowski, the diocesan spokesperson, wrote in a statement for the legnica.naszemiasto.pl website:
In connection with the issuance of the judgment by the Legnica Regional Court in the case of the former parish priest in Ruszów, and after reviewing the grounds for that judgment, Bishop of Legnica Andrzej Siemieniewski, respecting the court’s ruling, decided that no appeal would be filed. Thus, once the judgment became final, the diocese undertook to pay compensation to the people who had suffered harm.
