A reader wrote to us about Staroszkolna Street in Bolesławiec:
There is a fairly large tree standing there (...). On one side, there is a wholesale outlet and a furniture shop; on the other, residential houses. Although the other trees were pruned quite recently, no one admits responsibility for this one.
And added:
Almost two weeks ago, I asked the Municipal Police for help in determining who owns this land and whether it might belong to the city. But so far, there is no sign that anyone cares about it.
And emphasized:
The tree is standing bravely, but its upper branches pose a threat. From time to time, they fall to the ground. Down below, contrary to appearances, there is considerable traffic: vehicles drive to the blocks, and on the other side to the wholesale outlet and shops. There is significant pedestrian traffic. People either do not look or do not want to see, even though they work and live here and see it; they walk directly underneath.
And concluded: – So, as usual: are we waiting for it to fall? And for someone to die? Residents also park their vehicles next to it fully aware of the situation. Perhaps they want to see this tree on the roof of their crushed car in the morning?
We appeal for action.
