Police officers from the Economic Crime Division of the Bolesławiec police headquarters established through operational activities that a county resident was in possession of illegal items. In two cars and an outbuilding used by the 26-year-old, officers seized more than 60 electronic cigarettes without Polish excise stamps.

The illegal goods were secured, and the resident of Bolesławiec Municipality was detained. The State Treasury’s losses resulting from the reduction in excise tax and VAT revenues are estimated at more than PLN 10,000.

The man has already been charged and will face responsibility for the excise offence committed. Possessing this type of product without Polish excise stamps constitutes a violation of fiscal penal regulations and is punishable by a fine and forfeiture of the illegal goods.

Removing tobacco products and e-cigarettes without Polish excise stamps from circulation is an important element of the authorities’ work, aimed at limiting the grey market and protecting the legal market.
